A NEW deli and draught house will offer customers the chance to refill their glass bottles with beer or wine as it gears up to open.

Cultures Deli and Draughthouse Saltaire officially opens its doors to the public at noon on Friday, September 16.

Sell a host of wine, beer on tap and food including cheeses, Cultures is based in Victoria Road in the village.

Some of the items on sale also include cheese platters, pickle plates and fermented foods, tea and coffee. They will sell bread from other district suppliers including House of Bread, based in Frizinghall.

Beers on tap include two from Northern Monk and a Czech Republic pilsner called Vinohrddska.

There will be seating for around 20 people on the ground floor, and there are plans to open a room on the first floor in due course.

Cultures will also run a bottle deposit scheme where customers can bring in a glass bottle and have it refilled with wine or beer on draught from the site.

This is aimed at cutting down on the use of glass or plastic - but customers buying refills will be encouraged to drink the produce within 24 hours of collection.

Cultures bosses hope to eventually extend this scheme to soft drinks.

He said: “It’s really exciting.

“We want to be a community hub, like a corner shop.

“We want to celebrate the best food and drink we can find and celebrate what is in the community.

“We did a soft launch last week and had some really good feedback.”
