The News-Star obtained June 2019 food safety inspection information from the Louisiana Department of Health. The Top 12 addresses with the most critical violations are listed, along with an explanation of the finding.

All restaurants in the Top 12 had at least five critical violations.

According to the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, uncorrected critical violations are more likely to contribute to food contamination or illness. Non-critical violations are not directly related to food borne illness but could become critical if uncorrected.

Many of the violations were corrected on site or were eliminated by a later inspection.

In total, there were about 1,568 violations in the region, and approximately 28% of those were critical. More than 836 were corrected on site.

Analysis:Why doesn't Louisiana score restaurants based on health inspections?

No violations were found at 93 of the 470 addresses inspected. About 240 addresses had no critical violations.
